Maths

In maths this half term, we are working on fractions, decimals and percentages.  Click on the links below and work through each activity.  You should aim to do one activity a day to keep those skills simmering!  If you’ve completed all of these activities (or if you just want an extra challenge), then try out some of the problems in the ‘maths challenges’ document at the bottom of the page.

These activities are extra to what we are doing in school:

Don't forget to look at the extra document below for some extra maths challenges!

English

Here is a unit based on Blitz Survivor Stories for you to have a look at.

Here are some extra grammar lessons to give you some help with your writing:

Sentence Structures

Topic

This term our topic is World War II.

Here are some activities you can have a go at from home:

Anderson Shelters

Research what an Anderson Shelter was, how it was made and what it was used for.

Draw an Anderson Shelter.

Make a model of an Anderson Shelter using any materials you can find at home.

What other shelters did people use during World War II?

Research the roles played in World War II by Chamberlain, Churchill or Hitler.

Choose one of the significant individuals involved in World War II.

You should find out about:

- their childhood

- their early career

- their involvement in World War II

- what happened to them

Use what you have found out to write a biography of the individual. Can you find a creative way to present your biography? You could create a two-page spread, or film a report using photographs and pictures you find on the internet.

Evacuation

Research what the word evacuation means and what the term means in regards to World War II. Who was evacuated? Where were they evacuated from? Where were they evacuated to?

Use the following websites to help you:

Evacuation Primary Homework Help

BBC Radio

World War II Evacuations

Use what you have found out to decide if you think evacuating children was a good thing or a bad thing during World War II.  Imagine you are a child who has been evacuated - write a diary entry detailing your experiences. You can decide whether your experience was a positive or negative one. You could create a video diary (imagining they had video diaries during those times) and document your experiences that way.

Ongoing Activities

Don’t forget to read each day and complete a quiz on Accelerated Reader once you’re done.  You can also work on your tables on TT Rockstars and perfect your handwriting using “Letterjoin”.
