PSHE/RSE

We aim to promote personal wellbeing and development through a comprehensive taught programme of Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education that gives children the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live healthy, safe, productive and fulfilled lives.

Our proposed curriculum provides children with a safe place and opportunities to explore the changes they will face as they grow and develop.  Our aim is to deliver the curriculum in a sensitive manner appropriate to their age and emotional maturity and considering any religious or cultural needs.

You can read about these changes in this DFE guide for parents.

The statutory guidance can be found here.

We are using Coram Life Education (CLE) to support us in meeting these legal requirements.  More information about Coram Life Education and SCARF can be found on their website.

Research shows that delivering this vital education assists with children's mental health.  By learning about positive relationships, respect for themselves and others, and behaving appropriately and safely online, they are better able to enjoy their friendships and therefore focus more at school.  We also know that RSE has a protective factor when it comes to safeguarding children. It ensures that they receive information on naming parts of their body, knowing the difference between appropriate and inappropriate touch, and having the skills and confidence to find and talk to a trusted adult to report any abuse.

Our draft policy is availabe at the bottom of this page.  This will come into effect at the end of the summer term.

Thank you to everyone who completed the parent questionnaire. Please do not hesitate to contact school if you have any further questions. The attached video addresses the queries from the questionnaire here.

Our Summer term coverage of our relationship education is our 'Growing and Changing' unit. The overview can be found on the file attached below.
