Please note the curriculum is subject to change and highly depends on the weather conditions on the day. Please see your child's year group page for more information, for example which day your child has P.E.

Physical Education at Fulfen Primary School

At Fulfen Primary School, we believe that Physical Education not only improves physical and mental health and improves concentration, but also promotes correct physical growth and development. Exercise has a positive influence on academic achievement, emotional stability and interaction with others. Our is aim is for both children and adults to be aware of the value of physical activity and sport.

We believe that every child should have access to opportunities and activities that are designed to be enjoyable, vigorous, purposeful and regular. Through providing positive experiences, we aim to inspire our children to participate in regular physical activity and/or competitive sport well into adult life and value an active lifestyle.

As stated in the aims of the National Curriculum Physical Education programmes of study, we aim to develop physical competence, ensure that pupils are physical active for sustained periods of time, have regular opportunities to engage in competitive sports and develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to lead healthy, active lifestyles. In addition to our PE curriculum lessons, we aim to increase levels of activity within the school day, to meet the government recommendations of pupils being active for an hour a day.

As a school, we are also very passionate about school sport. We actively encourage all children to take part in extra-curricular activity and competitions and we are very proud of the success that we have had in recent years. Not only have we gained success in a variety of level 2 and 3 competitions but at national finals as well!

Through our curriculum lessons, extra-curricular activity and competitions, we also hope to instil into our pupils the spirit of true sportsmanship (using the School Games ‘spirit of the games’ values): honesty, teamwork, respect, self-belief, passion and determination, therefore providing pupils with valuable life skills.
