Student Login

Year 4 2019 - 2020

A very warm welcome from the staff and children from 4G and 4W !

Please take a look at the documents below for more information.

We will regularly post updates and photos of what the pupils have been doing, so please come back for another visit!

Useful information

In Autumn term, Year 4's PE  lessons will take place on a Friday afternoon so it is important that children bring the correct PE kit with them on this day. Children will also be participating in the Daily Mile so please ensure your child has a water bottle and trainers with them everyday.

Home Learning

Reading: It is important that pupils are regularly reading a variety of texts and recording their reading in their reading record. Children should be reading for at least 20 minutes every evening. Reading records are checked at least once a week by the class teacher or teaching assistant. Once your child has completed their book, they will take a quiz on the Accelerated Reading app in school , aiming to get 100%!

Maths:  we will be using RM EasiMaths (an online programme) as part of your child's home learning. Children will be given their login and should be practising their Maths skills on RM  EasiMaths at least 3 times a week (for approximately 15 minutes). Times tables practise is crucial in Year 4 as children are expected to know multiplication and division facts up to 12x12. Please encourage your child to practise their times tables on a daily basis.

Super spellings: Please ensure your child practises their spellings everyday as they will be tested at any point over a one to two week period. For more information, please see the English page of the website!

Please note: on occasions, an additional piece of homework may be set. This will always be linked to something learnt in class that week.

Our topic this term (Autumn) is Ancient Greece and the book we are reading is "Who let the Gods out?" By Maz Evans.

Useful dates

Thursday 15th November - Ancient Greek Workshop - There is the option that your child can dress up in Ancient Greek themed clothing for our workshop, but this is not compulsary. If your child does not dress up, then we ask that your child comes to school in normal school clothes.

Thank you for your continued support,

Miss Gardner (4G) and Mr Wood (4W) and Miss Atkinson.
